This medical exhibit features three images of the head, neck and chest of a 5 1/2 month old infant. rnThe first image provides an overview of normal pediatric respiratory anatomy. All pertinent structures are labeled. The second half of the exhibit contain two images. The first image shows the anterior view of the respiratory system. The trachea and lungs beneath the skin. All pertinent structures will be labeled. The next image shows the side view of the head, neck and chest based on the photograph you have provided. The respiratory system is ghosted beneath the skin. The upper airway and larnyx is shown in a sagittal section and reveals the presence of laryngomalacia / immature cartilage of the upper larynx with an omega shaped" epiglottis. This cut - away view allows a clear view the following structures: epiglottis, epiglottic fold, vocal cords, larynx, and trachea. Again, all pertinent structures are labeled. An inset illustrates the collapse inward during inhalation, causing airway obstruction. Arrows will be included to show the direction of the collapse. rnThese images provides an overview of the pediatric anatomy in this case and his condition.
